EU Toys EN71

EN71 standard applies to children's toys, This Standard controls all toys, i.e. any product or material designed or clearly intended for use in play by children under 14 years of age.
This section provides toy mechanical and physical performance requirements and test methods.EN71 standard applies to children's toys, This Standard controls all toys, i.e. any product or material designed or clearly intended for use in play by children under 14 years of age.EN71 standards make specific requirements for toys for children under 36 months and can not sit up independently. EN71 standards also make requirements for marking and labeling.
Members of the European Committee for Standardization standards bodies are including the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia drop Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

EN71-1 Toys Safety - Part 1: Mechanical and physical properties
Physical and mechanical properties of the part, including the drop test, detection of small parts, sharp edge detection, tensile testing, stress testing, seam detection, ear, nose eyes of tension, torsion testing.

Physical testing part of the general requirements:

4 General requirements 4.12 Balloons
4.1 Material 4.13 Cords of toy kites and other flying toys
4.2 Assembly 4.14 Enclosures
4.3 Flexible plastic sheeting 4.15 Toys intended to bear the mass of a child

4.9 Protruding parts 4.21 Toys containing a heat source
4.10 Parts moving against each other 4.22 Small balls
4.11 Mouth Cactuated toys 4.23 Magnet

EN71-2 Toys Safety - Part 2: Flammability
Flame-retardant properties of the provisions of this section prohibit the use of all flammable materials, toys and certain types of toys for small fire burning performance requirements. Required to detect the material burning rate shall not exceed the standards prescribed limits.

Category Conclusion
Mustache, wig and mask Long hair or hair over 5Omm Original length 150mm 1, burn time should be Q 2 second
2, if the toys continue to burn, burn length shall not exceed 50% of the original length
Original length <150mm 1, burn time should be Q 2 second 2, if the toys continue to burn, burn length shall not exceed 75% of the original length
Long hair or hair less than 50mm, no hair or other appendages of the large paper mask (between the eyebrows from the top of the mask size> 1 30mm) 1, burn time should be Q 2 second 2, if the toys continue to burn, burning parts of the maximum length of not more than 7Omm
Toys fancy dress 1.Flame speed should be Q 30mm / s
2.If the buring rate is greater than 10mm/s and a small 30mm/s, need to add a waring note on toy and the packaging: Warning, stay away from fire.
Children can enter the toy 1, flame speed it should be Q 30mm / s
2, if the flame speed in the 20-30mm / s between the prohibited fire drops;
3, the speed is greater than 10mm / s and a small 30mm / s, need to add a warning note on the toy and the packaging: "Warning, stay away from fire"
With long hair or textile surface filled toys (not suitable for the length
of Q 150mm)
Flame speed Q 30mm / s

EN71-3 Toys Safety - Part 3: Migration of certain elements
The part of certain elements of the transfer provisions of the toys can touch the components or materials can be moved elements (antimony, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, tin) the maximum limit. The detection principle is: the soluble elements are simulated material in continuous contact with acid after swallowing a period of time under the conditions of material extracted from the toy dissolution properties. The detection limit using the appropriate method of quantitative determination of the content of soluble elements.

EN71-4: 1990A1 Toys Safety - Part 4: Experimental sets for chemistry and related activities
Chemical and related activities with the test device EN71-4 provides the chemical test equipment and related activities, equipment limits the use of chemical substances, including chemistry, biology, physics, microbiology and environmental science in the field of testing toys also provides for labeling, chemical inventory and usage instructions to use the relevant requirements.

EN 71-8: Swings, slides and similar activity toys for indoor and outdoor family domestic use
EN 71-9: Organic chemical compounds C Requirement
EN 71-10: Organic chemical compounds C Sample preparation and extraction
EN 71-11: Organic chemical compounds C Methods of analysis

EN71-9 General requirements for organic compounds----specifies the requirements for migration or content of certain hazardous organic chemical compounds from /in toys and toy materials through all possible exposure routes: Mouthing, Ingestion, Skin contact, Eye contact, Inhalation, used as intended or in a foreseeable way. The scope of restricted substances is particularly broad, Including flame retardants, colorants, aromatic amines, monomer material, solvent transfer, can be inhaled solvents, wood preservatives (indoor and outdoor), other preservatives, and plasticizers. EN71-9, EN71-10, EN71-11 complement each other as a whole.
